Today’s corporations, organizations or private groups have the desire to invest in their most valuable assets – their employees, by providing comprehensive and effective wellness programming. Self defense / personal safety training should be included as an essential component of any Wellness program.

Self defense / personal safety training programs may include a broad range of potential content – from basic awareness training to all-out physical skills training, and everything in between!

Self defense / personal safety training programs should be introduced to employees or members in a way that any intimidation, apprehension or myths about self defense training are minimized or eliminated.  Empower Training Systems suggests, and has had great success with ,the following “3 Step Process for Introducing a Self Defense Program” plan.

3 Step Process for Introducing a Self Defense Training Program

  • Step 1 – Lunch ‘n Learn – a presentation/discussion about “What to Look for in a Self Defense Training Program.” Follow this activity with a survey to gauge the interest for additional, more comprehensive training (see Step 2).
  • Step 2 – Intro to Self Defense Training” workshop – a 1.5 to 2 hour self defense workshop providing participants a chance to experience samples of an actual self defense training program. Another benefit is that participants interact with and experience self defense instructor, which may help remove or minimize “barriers.” Step 2 will lead to Step 3!
  • Step 3 – Self Defense Training Program – an actual self defense / personal safety training program is designed in collaboration with the client’s input (guidelines and goals)!
